Colin Campbell was born on 31 October 1833 at Lieurary, Halkirk Parish, Caithness, Scotland, son of Donald Campbell and Isabella Campbell.2,3 Colin Campbell was baptized on 19 November 1833 at Lieurary, Halkirk Parish, Caithness, Scotland.3,4,5 He married Sarah Bailey, daughter of Isaac Bailey and Sarah Halliday, circa 1 April 1852 at Ontario, Canada.6,7 Colin Campbell died on 26 June 1916 at Burpee, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada, at age 82.8,9 He was buried on 28 June 1916 at Gordon Cemetery, Burpee, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada.3
He was found on a passenger list in 1841 at Ontario, Canada.10 He was Proprietor of Campbells Tavern on 1 January 1858 at Campbells Corner, Bentinck, Grey, Ontario, Canada.11 Due to debt issues, horses belonging to Charles McFarane were siezed and held in the stable of a Walkerton Hotel. McFarlane and Colin and John Cambell took the horses home. A constable was sent to arrest them but he was made to eat the arrest warrant.12 A wagonload of constables from Kincardine were sent to arrest the gang. They surrounded the tavern and burnt it down. Colin and Bill McMahon were shot escaping.13 He was charged with horse stealing and assaulting a constable circa 1 July 1859 at Brant, Ontario, Canada.14 He was proprietor of the first hotel called the Atlantic circa 1875 at Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. Colin Campbell, aged 87, passed away at his home in Burpee on Monday morning, June 26th 1916, his death being due to heart failure.
The late Mr. Campbell came to Manitoulin over forty years ago and began business at Sheguiandah, where he operat ed a flour mill in partnership with Mr. Walker. He afterwards moved to Gore Bay, and eventually settled in Burpee Township, where for many years he was a leader in municipal affairs and in politics.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon to Gordon Cemetery on 29 June 1916 at Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada.

Campbells Corner Womans Institute
During the late 50's a family by the name of Campbell took up land at the corner on the Durham Road east of Hanover. In this family were four brothers Colin, Tom, George, and Bob.
