son of Ensign Abel Wright Jr. and Rebecca Terry

m Rachel Owen, Jan 9, 1735 in Lebanon, CT

Benjamin signed a Charter of the town of Hartford, VT in July, 1761. He is generally agreed upon as the first actual settler in Hartford, CT where he built a house and moved in in 1763. He and 5 other men moved their families there in the summer of 1764. His house was located near the Connecticut River not far below the mouth of the White River. He soon owned every lot in the first division on the north side of the river.

Benjamin was a minuteman in the Revolutionary War.
He was on the first census, 1790 in Windsor Co, VT.
The probate record of his estate was drawn up in April, 1795 so he must have died not long before that.

The cemetery, now called St. Anthony's was originally a protestant cemetery, later bought by the Catholic Church. The old part of it is still referred to as the Old Protestant Cemetery.
Benjamin is buried there, and probably his wife Rachel. Also their son Jonathan is there.
