LILLIAN BARBARA BEST
In ever loving memory of Lillian Barbara Best, March 31, 1910 - September 17, 2007. Her family of Betty Lou and Paul Purvis wish to announce to all Lillian's friends and relatives her passing on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the age of 97 years. Working on her 98th year, Lillian released her hold on life at the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay after 3 months of residence. Prior to the Lodge, she insisted on being independent and cared for herself, where she was the last of the original residents at Mill Site on Water Street. Lil was a member in good standing in the Lyon's Memorial United Church and the Women's Auxiliary, assisting in any way she could. Lillian was an employee of Hester's Variety Store for 25 years where she enjoyed working to meet and serve new and old friends.
Most of her retirement years were at Mill Site, where she was able to continue her daily beautiful relationship with her daughter and never passed up an opportunity to have a cup of tea with a friend while waiting to have a game of cards. Lillian was predeceased by her beloved husband George in 1978. She is survived by loved and loving daughter Betty Lou and husband Paul Purvis of Gore Bay. Predeceased by sisters Mildred Middaugh, Clem Kennedy, May McQuad, and Myrtle Buchan and brother Robert Burns. Friends may call at the Culgin Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 10 - 11 a.m. the funeral service will be conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel at 11 am with Pastor Maxine McVey officiating. Interment in Gordon Cemetery.
