    Joseph Harold (Jay) Kennedy passed away at his residence in Gore Bay May 28, 1982 in his eightieth year. He was the son of the late Richard and Nora Kennedy of Chapeau, Que. He worked in Montreal and at the Park Hill gold mine where he was a hoistman.
    In 1927 he went with Inco where he also worked as a hoistman at Levack mine.
    He was a member of Inco Quarter Century Club.
    While in Levack he was an active member of St. Bartholemew's Roman Catholic Church, where he helped with the building of the present church. He retired in 1968 and moved to Gore Bay where he had since made his home, and will be greatly missed by his friends and neighbours.
    He married the former Clementine Burns in Sept. 1940 at Chapeau Que. Whom he leaves to mourn his passing, also a daughter Barbara (Mrs. Eric Jackson) , son-in-law Eric, two grandchildren Chris and Nicky of Edmonton, Alberta.
    Dear brother of Inez, California, U.S.A., Mrs. Janet Griffin, Bryson, Que., Thomas, Chapeau Que, Leona (Mrs. Arthur Lord), Ottawa Ont., Mrs. Irene Klieb, Burlington, Ont. He was predeceased by Hortence, Sister Irene and Mabel (Mrs. Gagnon), Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held on Monday May 31, at 10 A.M. from the Gore Bay Roman Catholic church. Rev. Felix officiating. Mrs. Kenneth Wright at the organ.
    Interment in Gordon Cemetery. Marvin Bowman, Frank Blum, Dave Cunning, Lyle McGinn, and Con Murphy.
    Relatives and friends attended from Ottawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Levack, Sudbury and Little Current.
