     Adam Hertel was born before 21 August 1662 at Nieder-Liebersbach, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany, son of Johannes Hanss Hertel and Margareth Markart. Adam Hertel was baptized on 21 August 1662 at Birkenau, Odenwald, Hesse, Germany.1 He married Eva Schmidt, daughter of Adam Schmidt and Eva Unknown, on 13 November 1694 at Birkenau, Odenwald, Hesse, Germany.2 Adam Hertel married Anna Margretha Dussler, daughter of Hanss Dussler, on 18 September 1708 at Birkenau, Odenwald, Hesse, Germany.3 Adam Hertel married Gertraud Schmidt on 26 June 1716 at Georgetown, America.4 Adam Hertel died after 1740.
     He was a Lutheran. He was a husbandman and vinedresser in 1682.5 He was found on a passenger list of the ship Virgins captained by John Sewell on 19 June 1709 at Rotterdam, Netherlands.6 He was found on a passenger list on 27 June 1709 at London, England.7 He and family appear on the Hunter subsistance lists as Family 275. on 30 June 1710 at New York, America.5 He and Gertraud Schmidt were witness to baptism of Adam Bahr s/o Jacob Bahr and Anna Gela on 17 November 1740 at Loonenburg, Greene, New York, America.5
