     Jane Hartle was born on 17 February 1813 at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Adam Hartle UEL and Maria Ann Dewitt.1,3,4,5 Jane Hartle died on 21 May 1891 at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada, at age 78.1 She was buried after 21 May 1891 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.6
     She unable to read or write in 1833. She petitioned for a land grant at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada on 28 December 1842.7 She It is unclear who is the Jane Hartle that is Mary Margaret's mother. It may be person 71. circa 1846. She petitioned for a land grant at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada on 6 February 1850.8 She received scrip for 200 acres on 29 May 1850.

That your Petitioner has never received any land as the daughter of said UE Loyalist. That the names and ages of your Petitioners Brothers and Sisters are as follows: John Hartle 61, Adam Hartle 49, Christ John Hartle 45, David Hartle 39, Michael Hartle 33, Elizabeth Hartle 59, Catherine Hartle 57, Hannah Hartle 53 and Eleanor Hartle 42.

    Michael Hartle of the Township of Cornwall yeoman mketh oath and saith that he was present and did see Jane Hartle daughter of the late Adam Hartle sign the foregoing Petition.

    Jane Hartle personally appeared before the adjourned Session this day and was recognized by the magistrates as the daughter of the late Adam Hartle an UE Loyalist who retained his loyalty during the late war and that he died in the year 1848 being then upwards of eighty years of age and that Jane Hartle the petitioner is now thirty six years of age.
