Winnipeg Free Press April 8, 1998:
    Gertrude May Hartle
Peacefully and with dignity on Tuesday April 7, 1998 Gertie passed away at her son's home in Winnipeg.
Gertie is survived by her son Edward and daughter-in-law Karin Bond; daughter Susan Knapp and son-in-law Maj Neil Knapp (Ottawa); three grandchildren, Andrew, Tara, and Steven; one sister Doreen Smith (Jim) of Victoria; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gertie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Roy Hartle; her parents, Charlie and Emma McNicholl; and her brother George.
Gertie was born September 21, 1933 in Winnipeg and resided there until 1979 when she and Joe moved to Seddon's Corner MB to enjoy their hobby farm. Gertie's love for animals and nature provided her and her family with hours of enjoyment as she would relish in looking after her "babies". Gertie settled in the Brokenhead River Park upon losing her beloved husband Joe and her parents. Here she continued her love for animals, craft making, visiting with her friends over coffee and volunteering countless hours to the Ladies Auxilliary and Club 50 (Secretary/Treasurer) and the Beausejour Legion 132.
In keeping with Gertie's wishes, cremation has taken place.
