Obituary - Gore Bay Recorder, December 1937 or January 1938,
    Mrs. Christena Wright
The many friends of Christena Wright of Gore Bay will regret to hear of her death, which occurred at the home of her son, Leonard, on Thursday night, Dec. 9th after a short illness of ten days.
Born in the County of York in 1869; she came to the Manitoulin Island with her parents, when six years of age. she resided in the township of Burpee until 1889 and there married Samuel Wright, taking up residence in Mills township where she remained until a short time ago.
Mrs. Wright was a faithful everyday christian, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. Her life was a blessing and benefaction to all within the sphere of its influence, so is the death of such a one a public misfortune, as well as an irreparable loss to the home circle made desolate by her departure.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Bracken and Mrs. E.H. Looker; three sons, Alexander, Leonard and Austin, all of Gore Bay, fifteen grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Scott and Mrs. Barbara Burns; one brother, Colin Campbell, all of Burpee.
The funeral service conducted by Rev. W.W. Jarvis was held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from the home of her son, Leonard and was largely attended by friends and relatives.
The pallbearers were her two sons Alexander and Austin and fourgrandsons, Lawrence and Lyman Bracken, Alvin and Dalton Wright. She was laid to rest in Gordon cemetery.
