MELVILLE SALTER After a lengthy illness, Melville Salter, aged 89 passed away at Oakview Place on Sunday, June 12, 2005. Mel was predecessed by his wife of 51 years, Verna in 1993. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Brenda and her husband Ken Smythe and his grandson Michael. Also surviving are his brothers, Eldon (Marlene) Salter of Winnipeg and Orville (Gerry) Salter of Thunder Bay, ON; sisters, Doris Salter of California and Lois Riches of Guelph, ON. Before having a stroke in 2000, Mel had a good life. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Engineers 2nd Battalion. Mel worked hard as a plumber and was a union member for over 50 years. He was a member of the Khartoum Shrine Patrol until his retirement. Mel enjoyed hunting, fishing and curling and being a member of the Brookland's Rod and Gun Club.
Mel will be laid to rest in Portage La Prairie, with his wife Verna.
