     Johannes Hartle UEL was born on 3 December 1755 at Athens, New York, America, son of Johannes Hertel UEL and Regina Falck. Johannes Hartle UEL married Sarah Dewitt, daughter of Garton Dewitt UEL and Phoebe Waterman, in 1785 at Ontario, Canada.1,4 Johannes Hartle UEL died on 14 May 1833 at Cornwall Twp, Stormont, Ontario, Canada, at age 77.4,5 He was buried on 16 May 1833.6
     He was a farmer in 1776. He began military service on 6 May 1777.7 He ended military service circa 1 June 1784 at Cornwall Twp, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.8 He petitioned for a land grant at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada on 25 August 1789.9
