     Adam Hartle UEL was born on 20 December 1757 at Loonenburg, Greene, New York, America, son of Johannes Hertel UEL and Regina Falck. Adam Hartle UEL was christened on 4 January 1758 at Zion Lutheran Church, Loonenburg, Greene, New York, America.3 He married Maria Ann Dewitt, daughter of Garton Dewitt UEL and Phoebe Waterman, in 1788 at Ontario, Canada.1,4 Adam Hartle UEL died on 14 February 1845 at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada, at age 87. He was buried on 16 February 1845 at Trinity Anglican Church, Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.5
     He was a farmer. He unable to read or write in 1777. He began military service on 22 May 1780 at New York, USA, He served in the first battalion of the Kings Royal Regiment of New York. He served under Captain Patrick Daly 1781-3. He ended military service circa 1 June 1784 at Cornwall Twp, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.6 He petitioned for a land grant at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada on 25 August 1789.7
