Died at matilda U.C. on the 17th ultimo, John N Shaver Esq aged 81. He was one of those who accompanied the late Sir John Johnson throught the wilderness to Canada at the breaking out of the American Rebellion and afterwards service in the Royal Yorkers until the peace of 1783. He commanded a company of Dundas Militia at the Battle of Presq'Isle in the year 1812 when in conjunction with Captain Ault's Flank Company he contributed greatly to defeating the efforts of a determined and numerous enemy to cary the position of Resq'Ilsle.
