     Maria Ann Dewitt was born on 17 March 1770 at Wawarsing, Ulster, New York, America, daughter of Garton Dewitt UEL and Phoebe Waterman. Maria Ann Dewitt was baptized on 15 April 1770 at Reformed Dutch Church, Wawarsing, Ulster, New York, America.2 She married Adam Hartle UEL, son of Johannes Hertel UEL and Regina Falck, in 1788 at Ontario, Canada.1,3 Maria Ann Dewitt died on 7 September 1837 at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada, at age 67.
     As of 1788,her married name was Hartle. She unable to read or write in 1790. She petitioned for a land grant at Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada on 24 October 1797.4 She was granted land at an unknown place as of 5 July 1798.
