    HARTLE, Ruby Ann (Day)
Friends of the family were deeply grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. J. Fred Hartle, which occurred at Cornwall General Hospital at 6 o'clock this morning [3 Oct 1938], following an illness of only a few days. Mrs. Hartle had been in her usual good health until Thursday morning last, when she complained of being ill. She was removed to hospital Friday morning and underwent an operation at 4.30 o'clock that afternoon. The operation was a success and the prospects for her recovery were bright. At five o'clock this morning she was seized with a sudden heart attack and, while everything was done to relieve her, she failed to respond to treatment and died an hour later. Mrs. Hartle was born in Moulinette 59 years ago April 25 last, a daughter of John Day, her maiden name being Ruby Ann Day. She came to Cornwall with her parents when seven years old and had since made her home here. She had been a lifelong member of Trinity Church and since early womanhood had been prominently identified with women's work in the parish, being an indefatigable worker in the Woman's Auxiliary, as well as Stormont Deanery Secretary of the Auxiliary for many years, a position she held at the time of her death. A woman of beautiful traits of character, her genial personality and readiness to help in any work for the uplift of her church and community, she will be greatly missed. Her death is the first break in her family. Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves four sons and three daughters to mourn her loss - Lloyd Hartle, Potsdam, N.Y.; Gervise Hartle, Rochester, N.Y.; Grenville Hartle and Wilbert Hartle, Cornwall; Mrs. William McCutcheon, Miss Helen Hartle and Miss Muriel Hartle, all in Cornwall. She also leaves four brothers - J. Frank Day, Potsdam, N.Y.; Wilbert Day, Cornwall; Arthur Day, Toronto; Bert Day, Weston, Ont. The funeral will leave the family home, 31 Smith avenue, on Wednesday afternoon, for Trinity Church, where the service will conducted at 2.30 o'clock by Rev. J. E. Lindsay, rector. Burial will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.
