     John Dewitt UEL was born on 15 January 1768 at Wawarsing, Ulster, New York, America, son of Garton Dewitt UEL and Phoebe Waterman. John Dewitt UEL was baptized on 19 June 1768 at Reformed Dutch Church, Wawarsing, Ulster, New York, America.1 He married Dorothy Cline, daughter of Michael Cline UEL and Catherine Dorothea Vick, circa 1792. John Dewitt UEL died circa 1823; Per son Thomas land petition.
     He was described as was 4 foot 9 inches tall in 1780. He began military service on 25 August 1780.2 He ended military service on 6 June 1784 at Cornwall Twp, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.3
